Dr. Madhavi Rudraraju, MD is the founder and Medical Director of Alamo Liver Institute. She is a quadruple board-certified physician in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, Transplant Hepatology, and Obesity Medicine. With over 16 years of clinical experience, she specializes in the evaluation and management of complex liver conditions — including cirrhosis, liver failure, viral and autoimmune hepatitis, fatty liver disease, and advanced transplant-related care.

Known for her evidence-based, patient-centered approach, Dr. Rudraraju helps patients understand their diagnosis and take an active role in their care. Her treatment philosophy centers on direct communication, precision medicine, and close collaboration with referring physicians and multidisciplinary teams.

Dr. Rudraraju has held several key leadership roles in liver disease and transplant hepatology. She served as Medical Director of the Liver Disease and Transplant Program at Methodist Hospital Specialty and Transplant, Chief of the Transplant Service Line for the Medical Executive Committee, and Center Medical Director for the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS). She has also served as a National and Regional Review Board Member for UNOS.

She has also served as Vice President for Clinical and Research Affairs at Texas Gastro Research.

During her research tenure at Pinnacle Clinical Research, Dr. Rudraraju served as Chief Medical Officer. In recognition of her outstanding contributions to liver disease research, she received the 2022 Summit Apex Award for Excellence in NASH Research.

Her primary areas of expertise include fatty liver disease/MASH/NASH, metabolic liver diseases, and viral hepatitis. Her extensive research experience allows her to remain at the forefront of emerging therapies, advanced diagnostics, and evolving standards of care in liver disease. She has contributed to multiple publications in the MASH and liver disease field.

Dr. Rudraraju has served as Principal Investigator for more than 160 FDA-regulated clinical trials targeting MASH/NASH, primary biliary cholangitis, obesity, hepatic impairment, hepatorenal syndrome, alcohol-associated liver disease, hepatic encephalopathy, severe hypertriglyceridemia, cardiovascular outcomes, inflammatory bowel disease, and other indications.
